Test Utility
Used to screen for hemoglobin S in whole blood from patients that are high risk for Sickle Cell Disease or Sickle Cell Trait.

Methodology
This SICKLEDEX test is a solubility test that uses two reagents, a lysing reagent and a reducing reagent, to detect the presence of Hemoglobin S. This test does not differentiate between Sickle Cell Disease (S/S) and Sickle Cell Trait (A/S, C/S, etc).
NOTE: This test only needs to be performed one time. Additional testing for positive results should be done using hemoglobin electrophoresis.
