Test Utility
This test measures the level of the hormone progesterone in patient's blood. Low levels of progesterone can cause infertility issues or problems during pregnancy. Adrenal gland diseases in both males and females may cause elevated levels of progesterone.

Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum or plasma sample in the following tubes:
Serum separator tube (gold or tiger top)
EDTA (lavender top) OR Lithium Heparin (green top)
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store serum or plasma at the following temperatures:
Room Temperature for up to 8 hours
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C for up to 48 hours.
Frozen: -20°C or lower- Samples should be thawed only once.

Sample not stored at proper temperature
