Test Utility
This test is used to determine if a person has been infected with the Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This test tells immune status and not when the patient was infected or if the infection is current.
The test is able to detect HIV p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV Type 1, including Group O (HIV-1 + “O”) and/or HIV Type 2 (HIV-2)
Urine Drug Screen Profile Includes:
Methodology
The HIV assay is a 2-wash antigen/antibody sandwich immunoassay, where antigens in the patient sample are bridged by antibodies also present in the patient sample. The p24 antigen in the sample is bridged by antibody that is in the reagents.
