Test Utility
This test is used to determine if a person has been infected with the Herpes Simplex Type 2 virus. This test tells immune status and not when the patient was infected or if the infection is current.

Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum or plasma samples in the following tubes:
Serum separator tube (gold or tiger top)
Heparin (green top)
EDTA (lavender top)
Specimen Storage and Stability
Separate serum and plasma within 24 hours and store samples at the following temperatures:
Room temperature: 15°C to 30°C up to 24 hours
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 7 days
Frozen: -20°C or lower for up to 12 months. Samples should be thawed no more than 3 times.
