Procalcitonin (PCT)
Viruses Included in Panel
Organisms Included in Panel
Test Utility
This test is used as an early indicator to identify patients that have sepsis as well as to monitor patient response to antibiotic therapy. PCT is a biomarker specific for bacterial infections where levels are increased in patients with a systemic inflammatory response due to bacterial endotoxins and inflammatory cytokines.
Urine Drug Screen Profile Includes:

Reference Range
< 0.5 ng/mL Low risk of severe sepsis and/or septic shock
