Test Utility
The HBc total antibodies test detects both IgM and IgG antibodies. This test may be used to determine infections status in the “window Period” between acute infection and long-term infection.

The HBc Total assay is a two-wash antigen immunoassay where antigens are bridged by antibody present in the sample. Results above the assay cut-off are not indicative of antibody level.

Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum or plasma sample in the following tubes:
Serum separator tube (gold or tiger top)
EDTA (lavender top) and Lithium/Sodium Heparin (green top)
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store serum or plasma at the following temperatures:
Room temperature: Up to 12 hours
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C for up to 3 days
Frozen: -20°C or lower. Samples should not be thawed more than 2 times.
Thoroughly mix and centrifuge thawed samples for 2 minutes before using.
