Universal Transport Media (UTM) with swab

Specimen Storage and Stability

Store UTM containing the collection swab at the following temperatures:

  • Room Temperature: 24 hours

  • Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 5 days

Specimen Rejection

  • Broken or leaking specimen tube(s)

  • Unlabeled/mislabeled specimen

  • Incorrect specimen type/incorrect media

  • Specimen stored incorrectly or outside of stability

  • No swab in tube

  • Expired media
