Utilizes a two-site immunoenzymatic (“sandwich”) assay
Test Utility
Used for the quantitative determination of cardiac troponin I levels in human serum and plasma to aid in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction (MI).
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Plasma sample in the following tubes:
Lithium Heparin tube (green top)
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store serum at the following temperatures:
Room temperature: 15°C to 25°C no longer than 4 hours
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 48 hours
Frozen: -20°C or lower up to 7 days
Specimen Rejection
Serum tubes or inappropriate tubes
Broken or leaking tube
Insufficient sample volume
Frozen whole blood
Specimen hemolyzed
Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled

Result available within 24 hours of receipt in laboratory STAT results available within 2 hours of receipt in the laboratory
