Isothermal - Helicase-Dependent Amplification (HDA) in the presence of target-specific fluorescence probes.

Test Utility

Used for the qualitative detection of Streptococcus from throat swabs from patients symptomatic for a respiratory viral infection.

Specimen Collection and Preparation

Sterile Rayon and Polyester throat swabs in the following tubes (1-3 mL):

  • Liquid Amies 

  • Liquid Stuart Media 

  • Copan eSwab

Specimen Storage and Stability

Store the swab at the following temperatures: 

  • Room temperature: 25°C ± 2°C up to 48 hours 

  • Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 7 days

Specimen Rejection

  • Received > 7 days after collection 

  • Swab missing 

  • < 50mL volume 

  • Broken or leaking tube  

  • Visible contamination present 

  • Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled
