Test Utility
Used for the qualitative detection of Streptococcus from throat swabs from patients symptomatic for a respiratory viral infection.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Sterile Rayon and Polyester throat swabs in the following tubes (1-3 mL):
Liquid Amies
Liquid Stuart Media
Copan eSwab
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store the swab at the following temperatures:
Room temperature: 25°C ± 2°C up to 48 hours
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 7 days
Specimen Rejection
Received > 7 days after collection
Swab missing
< 50mL volume
Broken or leaking tube
Visible contamination present
Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled
