Reticulocyte Count
Methodology
The reticulocyte count is performed on the Sysmex XN Series Hematology Analyzer. This analyzer uses several technologies including flow cytometry, which determines the number of reticulocytes present in the patient's blood.
Test Utility
This test provides information about RBC (red blood cells) production. A reticulocyte is an immature RBC. The presence of reticulocytes in peripheral blood can indicate if the bone marrow is producing enough RBCs.
