Parathyroid Hormone, Intact (Intact PTH)
Methodology
This is a two-site immunoenzymatic (“sandwich”) assay where the final product is read by a luminometer that measures the amount of light generated by the reaction. The light produced is directly proportional to the concentration of PTH in the sample.
Test Utility
This test measures the amount of circulating PTH in blood. PTH is responsible for managing calcium levels and therefore testing PTH levels may be helpful in determining the reason for increased or decreased calcium.
