Methodology
The Alere Determine HIV 1/2 Ag/Ab Combo is an immunochromatographic test for detection of free HIV-1 p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2.
Test Utility
This is a rapid test for the determination of antibodies of Human Immunodeficiency Virus for HIV-1, HIV-2, and HIV-1 p24 antigen.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum sample in the following tubes:
Serum separator tube (gold or tiger top)
No additive tube (red tops)
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store serum at the following temperatures:
Room temperature: 15°C to 25°C up to 2 days
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 7 days.
Frozen: -20°C or lower up to 30 days
Specimen Rejection
Insufficient sample volume
Sample not stored at proper temperature
Frozen whole blood
Severely hemolyzed samples
Severely lipemic specimens
Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled
