Hepatitis C Virus IgG (HCV IgG)
Methodology
The HCV IgG assay is an indirect two-wash sandwich immunoassay.
Test Utility
This test is used to determine if a patient has been infected with the Hepatitis C Virus at some point in time.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum or plasma sample in the following tubes:
Serum separator tube (gold or tiger top)
EDTA (lavender top) and Lithium/Sodium Heparin (green top)
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store serum or plasma at the following temperatures:
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C for up to 7 days
Frozen: -20°C or lower. Samples should not be thawed more than 4 times.
Thoroughly mix and centrifuge thawed samples for 2 minutes before using.
Specimen Rejection
Insufficient sample volume
Sample not stored at proper temperature
Frozen whole blood
Severely hemolyzed samples
Severely lipemic specimens
Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled
