Creatinine
Methodology
This is a modification of the Fabiny and Ertingshausen reaction where a yellow-orange complex is formed when creatinine reacts with picric acid at an alkaline pH.
Test Utility
This test measures creatinine, a waste product made by your muscles, that is filtered and removed through the kidneys. Creatinine can be used as an indicator of kidney function where an increase in creatine may indicate a problem with the kidneys.
