Utilizes a paramagnetic particle, chemiluminescent immunoassay

Test Utility

Used for determining prognosis and management of patients with cancer, especially colorectal cancer.

Specimen Collection and Preparation

Serum in the following tubes:

  • Preferred Specimen: One Gold-top SST tube, minimum volume 4.0 mL

Specimen Storage and Stability

Store serum or plasma at the following temperatures:

  • Room temperature: 9 hours

  • Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C: 48 hours

  • Frozen: Not indicated

Specimen Rejection

  • Insufficient sample volume

  • Sample not stored at proper temperature

  • Frozen whole blood

  • Severely lipemic specimens

  • Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled
