Methodology

Multiplex Real-Time PCR single tube assay using lyophilized reagents

Test Utility

This is a qualitative assay for the identification of DNA from the yeast Candida auris from symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals.

Specimen Collection and Preparation

  • Copan eSwab – 1 mL minimum

  • Specimens should be collected from the axillary or groin regions

Specimen Storage and Stability

Store swabs at the following temperature:

  • Room Temperature: up to 7 days

  • Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 7 days

Specimen Rejection

  • Received outside of stability

  • Specimen not stored properly

  • Wrong collection media

  • < 1 mL volume

  • Broken or leaking container

  • Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled

NOTE: Specimens are refrigerated (2-8°) for 7 days before disposal
