Methodology
Isothermal - Helicase-Dependent Amplification (HDA) in the presence of target-specific fluorescence probes.
Test Utility
Used for the qualitative detection of Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis from nasopharyngeal swabs in patients suspected of having respiratory tract infection.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Nasopharyngeal Swab - specialized swab with longer, flexible shaft and mini-tip (flocked, foam or spun synthetic with aluminum shaft) in the following tubes (1–3 mL):

Specimen Storage and Stability
Store the swab at the following temperatures:
Room temperature: 25°C ± 2°C up to 2 days
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C for up to 4 days
Frozen: ≤ –70°C up to 5 months

Received > 4 days after collection
Swab missing
< 50µL volume
Broken or leaking tube
Visible contamination present
Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled
