For the quantitative determination of α-Amylase in human serum
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum or heparinized plasma sample in the following tubes:
Preferred Specimen: One Gold-top SST tube. (Minimum Whole Blood: 4.0 mL)
Also acceptable: One Lithium Heparin tube (Minimum Whole Blood: 3.0 mL)
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store serum or plasma at the following temperatures:
Room temperature: 1 week
Refrigerated: 2°C to 8°C up to 1 month
Frozen: Not indicated
Specimen Rejection
Insufficient sample volume
Sample not stored at proper temperature
Frozen whole blood
Hemolyzed samples
Severely lipemic specimens
Specimen labeled incorrectly or not labeled
