Methodology
Testing performed on Beckman Coulter DxC 700 AU analyzer.
Test Utility
The Potassium test system is intended for the quantitative measurement of potassium in serum and to monitor electrolytes balance in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions characterized by low or high blood Potassium levels.
Specimen Storage and Stability
Separate serum from blood cells ASAP. Avoid hemolysis since it can lead to falsely elevated K+ value. One Gold Top SST, minimum 2.0mL of whole blood. Potassium is stable in serum for at least 7 days at 2-8C.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum, free from hemolysis, is the recommended specimen.

Performed
Monday - Saturday, 16 hours a day.
Result available after getting the specimen in 5 hours.
