Methodology
Testing performed on the Sysmex XN-1000 Hematology Analyzer.
Test Utility
Reticulocytes are immature red blood cells with a life span in peripheral blood of 1 to 2 days, before they mature to RBCs. Being immature, some basophilic substance or inclusions are found in them. They are a measure of erythropoietic activity of the bone marrow.
Specimen Storage and Stability
Samples stored refrigerated at 2-8°C are stable for 72 hours. Allow refrigerated samples to come to room temperature at least 15 minutes and mix well before analysis.
