Methodology
Testing performed on Beckman Coulter DxC 700 AU analyzing serum.
Test Utility
Used in the quantitative determination of direct bilirubin is used in the evaluation of liver and biliary disease.
Specimen Storage and Stability
Exposure to direct sunlight can decrease bilirubin in samples by 50% within one hour. When well protected from light, bilirubin in serum is stable for up to 3 days at 2-8C and for approximately three months when stored at -20C or colder.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Serum sample, Gold Top or Tiger SST. Refrigerated, free from hemolysis, are recommended specimens. Protect specimen from light and assay as soon as possible.

Performed
Monday - Saturday, 16 hours a day.
Result available after getting the specimen in 5 hours.
