Methodology
Testing performed on Beckman Coulter DxC 700 AU analyzing serum.
Test Utility
Used in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous potentially serious disorders associated with changes in body acid-base balance.
Specimen Storage and Stability
Allow SST specimens (Gold Top or Tiger, minimum 2.0mL) to clot 30 to 60 minutes, then immediately centrifuge to separate serum from cells. Refrigerate at 2-8C or 36-46F.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
Once separated from cells, Carbon Dioxide in serum and plasma is stable for 24 hours when stored at 20-25C and protected from exposure to air.
