Methodology
Testing performed on Beckman Coulter Access2 Immunoassay Systems (Plasma Test).
Test Utility
Used in the diagnosis and assessment of severity of congestive heart failure. Also used for the risk stratification of patients with acute coronary syndromes.
Specimen Storage and Stability
Store sample for stability for 7 hours in ice. If the assay will not be completed within 7 hours, refrigerate the sample at 2-8C for 24 hours only.
Specimen Collection and Preparation
EDTA (Lavender) Plasma sample recommended. Sample volumes need to be 3.0mL.
Specimen Rejection

Serum specimens.

Moderate to severely hemolyzed specimens.

Plasma collected in Green Top, Blue Top, or Gray Top tubes.

0 - 100pg/mL
Performed
Monday - Saturday, 16 hours a day.
Result available after getting the specimen in 5 hours.
STAT results available within 2 hours of receipt in the Laboratory.
*NOTE: All Specimen Refrigerated (2-8°C) for 7 days only.
